The Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts was founded in 1986 to promote education and performance excellence in honor of Donna's memory and values. Since 2011, The American Icon Series proudly celebrates these ideals in the historic community venue, The Donna Reed Theatre and Center for the Performing Arts (c. 1914).

Please join us every evening at 7:00 pm (except for the specially timed events listed below) at the Donna Reed Center for the Performing Arts in Denison, Iowa, for a series of rich perspectives on American ideals and realities of governing with the American Icon Series views of Will Rogers, Mark Twain, the presidents of Mount Rushmore, current pundits and reporters of the 2016 Iowa Caucuses, and showings of and It's A Wonderful Life.

The Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts presents its new "Americon Icon Series" featuring "Chautauqua-style" events from October, 2015 to March, 2016. The performances include live performances of scholarly "living history" actors, a panel, and screenings of American classics.

Tickets are available from the Donna Reed Foundation office or at the door. A special value price for the entire season series is $65 (a savings of almost 20 percent) or $20 for each event. Humorist legend Will Rogers from Oklahoma (1879-1935) comes to life in the person of Dr. Doug Watson, the only performer endorsed by the Will Rogers Memorial Commission and approved by the Will Rogers Museum in Oklahoma. Join us for an entertaining evening of Will Roger's humorous and telling perspectives on politics, the economy, and the state of the nation in the Roaring Twenties and hardship years of the Great Depression.

See some of her private momentos, meet friends and family, join her Foundation's year round work, and help grow our birthday card collection with your favorite Donna Reed memories, experiences, and best wishes.

Do not miss this unique and special event! "Living Rushmore" features four of the most nationally accomplished presidential impersonators on one stage, framing our democracy from their respective presidencies. Fritz Klein (Abraham Lincoln) returns from the Lincoln Institute in Springfield, Illinois. Bill Barker (Thomas Jefferson) shares his passions from his work with Colonial Williamsburg. Gib Young (Theodore Roosevelt) is a member of the Theodore Roosevelt Association and is irresistible. Carl Closs (George Washington) is a former educator and scholar dedicated to presidential discovery for young and old alike. Mount Rushmore speaks tonight!

Mr. Waddell has portrayed Twain for over 30 years in the author's boyhood hometown.
