Donna Reed connects with radio

September 9, 1944 - Screen Guild Theater airs “Too Many Husbands" with Donna Reed

Too Many Husbands (1940) is a romantic comedy film about a woman who loses her husband in a boating accident and remarries, only to have her first spouse reappear. The film stars Jean Arthur, Fred MacMurray, and Melvyn Douglas.

It was adapted as a radio play, airing on The Screen Guild Theatre on September 9, 1944, with Frank Sinatra, Donna Reed, and Bill Goodwin.

The Screen Guild Theater radio anthology series broadcast from 1939 until 1952 during the Golden Age of Radio. Leading Hollywood stars performed adaptations of popular motion pictures. Fees that would ordinarily have been paid to the stars and studios were instead donated to the Motion Picture Relief Fund and were used for the construction and maintenance of the Motion Picture Country House.
