Donna was uneasy

Randolph Scott and Donna Reed

Hangman's Knot - released November 15, 1952 (USA).

Hangman's Knot is an American Western film starring Randolph Scott, Donna Reed, and Lee Mavin. The film is about a group of Confederate soldiers, unaware that the Civil War is over, who intercept a shipment of gold escorted by Union cavalry troops in Nevada and are then pursued by a renegade posse.

It has been reported that after the scene of Lee Marvin holding Donna Reed against the wall, she was so terrified by him that she did not let him come near her on and off the set.

A New York Times review said, "Donna Reed ... is utterly natural as her hate is turned to admiration when she comes to know her captor better."
