Col. Grover Woodrow Asmus (January 2, 1926 - October 11, 2003).
Grover W. Asmus, the husband of Denison, Iowa, native Donna Reed from 1974 until her death in 1986, served in the U.S. Army until 1972, attaining the rank of colonel. He had many assignments including as a senior aide to General of the Army Omar N. Bradley. Asmus was the founding president of The Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts in 1987.
Jay Fultz, the author of In Search of Donna Reed, writes that during their three-year courtship, Grover proposed to Donna on a daily basis.
