Another way to learn American history.

Beyond its inspirational qualities and memorable moments, which make It’s a Wonderful Life a cherished holiday classic, the film can also be viewed through a historical lens. In 2015, the staff at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History launched the History Film Forum to examine film as a medium for public history. This initiative brought together scholars, filmmakers, and audiences to engage in thoughtful discussions. Read the Smithsonian article.
