Richard Carlson (April 29, 1912 – November 25, 1977).
Richard Carlson was an American actor, television and film director, and screenwriter. He began his career with a promising start, appearing with stars such as Lana Turner and Bette Davis. He made several films a year during the early 1940s. When World War II broke out, he was on the path to becoming a Hollywood leading man. After serving in the army, Carlson returned to acting but was unable to recapture his career's previous momentum. In the '50s, he made guest appearances on various television shows before finding his niche in horror and sci-fi.
Carlson appears with Donna Reed in the film The Man From Down Under (1943). A New York Times review remarked, "as the young lovers, Richard Carlson and Donna Reed, a capable and attractive actress, are quite helpless against a foolish situation."
