Ransom! is an American crime drama film starring Glenn Ford and Donna Reed. It examined the reactions of parents, police, and the public to a kidnapping. The film is based on a popular episode of The United States Steel Hour titled Fearful Decision, which aired in 1954 and starred Ralph Bellamy.
Reviewers largely agreed that the material added to stretch it to feature-length also served to lessen the dramatic impact. The New York Times review found the plot to be implausible, and the performance "fabricated" and "theatrical," and called Donna Reed "incredibly saccharine and emotionally unsettled as the wife."
