Barbara Avedon

Barbara Avedon (June 14, 1925 – August 31, 1994).

Barbara Avedon was a television writer, peace activist, and feminist. She founded the anti-war organization Another Mother for Peace, a Beverly Hills organization. Donna Reed served as a co-chairman.


Avedon began her screenwriting career as an episodic writer for The Donna Reed Show, where she wrote 15 scripts. She also wrote for Father Knows Best and Bewitched. She later teamed with Barbara Corday to create Cagney & Lacey, the world's first dramatic television series to place women in both of its starring roles.
